Update 1.1 LESS THAN 30 DAYS FROM LAUNCH AND NEW CONTENT!

Today we are excited to announce Game Update 1.1 for Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ is coming January 17th! Called ‘Rise of the Rakghouls,’ this is the first of what will be many regularly-scheduled content updates for the game.

There are a number of additions to the game with Game Update 1.1. One of these is a vast expansion of the already-existing “Karagga’s Palace” Operation. This addition will more than triple the size of the Operation as a whole! Playing through the expanded Hutt Hospitality Operation will test you and your allies’ skills against Karagga’s private army of bounty hunters and battle Droids before culminating in a massive final battle! Making your way through Karagga’s palace will reward you with powerful new gear, and even more extravagant rewards for those who take on the Operations in hard mode!


In addition to the expanded Operation, we are introducing a brand new Flashpoint entitled ‘Kaon Under Siege’. This Flashpoint takes you and up to three of your allies to the planet of Kaon, which has been decimated by a mysterious outbreak of the Rakghoul virus. Fighting your way through hordes of the twisted monstrosities, you will have to locate a small band of survivors and learn the truth behind the outbreak. ‘Kaon Under Siege’ offers players the chance to experience a gripping new story while earning new gear! You can get a sneak peek of the brand new Flashpoint right now!


Also, check out our new “Game Updates” page. Over time, we will be adding information on upcoming game updates here! Finally, Game Update 1.1 will also include a number of bug fixes designed to help make your in-game experience much smoother. As I sit here with my family and watch the minutes and hours go past, I have been reflecting on a year of changes for Arcas Legion as well as a year of growing stability and growth personally. It's been an interesting ride over the last few years.

Many times I felt as if the ride downward would never end. Well it did end 2 years ago. They say that lessons learned painfully are usually the most indelible. So now I am sober and most recently working on my health more, things have been moving in the right direction in the last 2 years.

More than once I have needed some words of wisdom to help me focus and reflect. So I thought I would share a few toasts/statements that I have enjoyed in the year past. A few thoughts to ponder and reflect on this, the last evening of the year 2011.

For those of us that pre-ordered the game early we may be playing as soon as tomorrow.

Starting December 13, 2011, 7:00AM EST (Pacific: December 13th, 4:00AM PST; European: December 13th, 12:00PM GMT, 1:00PM CET), The Old Republic will begin emailing invitations to start your Early Game Access.

Arcas Legion qualified for pre-launch status, but I am not aware of which server has been selected for us. Please note:

Are you a guild member through the Pre-Launch Guild Program?
Just prior to Early Game Access, you will be able to log in to swtor.com and visit the Guilds Headquarters to see if your guild was assigned a server and to play with them. You'll also see a flag next to a server name in-game if your guild is on that server. Visit the Guild FAQ for more details.

Activision Blizzard CEO Bobby Kotick doesn't seem too worried. In fact, he believes that The Old Republic may not even be profitable for EA.

During the recent Reuters Media Summit, Kotick reportedly questioned whether or not the much-hyped Star Wars MMO would be able to steal subscribers from WoW.

WOW loses 2 million Subscribers in a year

The game will be seven years old in just a few weeks (it launched on November 23, 2004), and it's been hemorrhaging players since October 2010, bringing total losses the past 12 months to around two million.

When we started our Beta Testing Weekends, we told you that each weekend would include more testers than the last. We’re excited to announce that later this month we will be conducting our largest Beta Testing Weekend yet, specifically designed to help us stress test our servers in preparation for the launch of Star Wars™: The Old Republic™.

One of the benefits to pre-ordering Star Wars™: The Old Republic™ is that you will gain Early Game Access before launch on December 20th. This is a chance to start your epic Star Wars saga early, as you’ll be able to create and play your character ahead of the official live game launch.

Many of you have been wondering how long Early Game Access will last, and we are now happy to announce that depending on when you redeem your Pre-Order Code, you will gain Early Game Access up to five days before the official game launch date.

Early Game Access is staggered over five days to ensure a quality experience for players at launch. Staggering access aids server stability and a gradual increase in player population through the game. Seriously 5 days? staged... So if you think about it, if you bought in July you get 5 days, Aug - 4, Sept - 3, Oct - 2, Nov - 1? I can hardly think of any other method that would be impartial and fair other than to lay stage it by the month of purchase....

I was hoping for 10 days staged.... I will take what I can get though...

Mists of Pandaria is the next expansion in WoW. Pandas, Monks, other stuff that won't be as cools a Monk Pands who can Tank, Heal or DPS.

On Thursday Oct 20th at approximately 1:00am EST we will be switching our Mumble server off of the Cloud Instance it currently runs on and moving it to our new hardware we setup last week...

While the downtime for this change will only be a minute or two, the DNS for the domain name the mumble servers are accessed from (mumble1.shivtr.com) must be updated to point to the new host, and this change then needs to propagate out across the web so users connecting to mumble get sent to the new host. This DNS propagation usually happens within a few hours for most, but can take up to 72 hours to fully propagate.

Until the DNS propagates for you, you can still connect to your mumble server via the IP address 74.86.234.197 (after 1am).

Bioware is showing off some of the in-game graphics in this trailer which gets you pumped up for the potential for all-out war between the Empire and the Republic.
